Free Christmas Trees for Thousands of Christmas Shoppers

This year, thousands of Christmas shoppers can get a free Christmas tree from the state forest.

Christmas is just a month away and many people are already looking for gifts. As Christmas tree is a big part of the Christmas spirit, this year Telia decided to offer its customers a possibility to get a free Christmas tree along with a gift.

Since last week, Telia online features 40 products that include a Christmas tree voucher, which can be used for getting a free tree from the state forest.

According to the State Forest Management Center (RMK), a few simple rules must be followed when taking a tree from the state forest: pick a tree that has no chances of growing big – at road sides and trenches, under power lines and from old forests. It is not allowed to take Christmas trees from protected areas and planted forests. State forest and protected areas are shown on RMK’s online map and mobile app with different colors. Telia pays to RMK for the trees and RMK invests the money into planting new trees.

RMK’s mobile app can be used to find trees up to 2m in hight. The app is free and can be downloaded for Android via Google Play, Apple via App Store, and Windows Phone via the Microsoft app store.

More specific instructions, a map of the state forest and other information is also available at www.rmk.ee/kuuseke.
